Here I am baby...Signed, Sealed, Delivered...I'm Yours

Ryan has asked me to put a caveat on this blog and say that he was in no way involved in the title of this blog post. Blah blah blah. I will drink wine and come up with whatever kind of titles I want for our blogs. So now to the real stuff....

Appliances for the kitchen! Get excited. So last week we went to hhgregg and bought new appliances for our previously hideous kitchen. However, you know that I did not leave that store without taking that poor salesman for every dollar he could knock off the final price- I love a deal.

The week before, we were in Home Depot and came across the LG line of stainless steel appliances, which just happened to be within a couple hundred dollars of the Frigidaire line that we were looking at before. Being my Type A self I had the gentleman at Home Depot price everything out with the absolute best deal he could give us. So when we went to hhgreeg, I had ammunition. Ryan just looked at the poor salesman like "good luck buddy" and let me do my thing. I haggled the man down $500 bucks and in the end he even tossed in a rebate for the cost of delivery. YES! Here are the new appliances and if you look very carefully in the picture of the fridge, you can see a preview of the orange kitchen and new chair rail...
Oven and microwave (which we have not put up yet...)
Fridge (with crushed ice - YAY!!!)

Dishwasher (which I hope that is easier to install than it was to take out the old one!)

Other news in the house - we decided to replace all of the hardware in the downstairs. Here is a picture of the front door handleset that we picked out. All of the door knobs are egg knobs and Tuscan Bronze (to match the new cabinet pulls and knobs...yay!). Ryan is super excited about the installation of all of these jazzy knobs. He is about to boil over with excitement.

So that is all for now. If you are a dirty thief and just read this blog - do not go steal our stuff. Mama Jane is worried about burglary....gotta love her. The PhD program is going well - I have a lot of reading to do and this is a brilliant method of procrastination. The class is over in two weeks and the amount of work that has to be done between point A and point B is ridiculous. That being said - I need to get going and learn about organizational behavior. oh, yay.

Love and cheers always!

Refinished floors = Petsmart pedicure for Lucy!

We have heard horror stories about the dust that comes along with refinishing hardwood floors. So, we decided to go ahead and have our hardwood floors refinished in the new house before we begin painting. Man - they were not kidding about the dust! It is everywhere - gross! Anyway, Scott and his crew from Done Right Services (yes you read that correctly - Done Right Services) did a beautiful job! Here are some pictures...

Kitchen

They look so much better than they did before. There was some water damage in the kitchen and scratches all over the place. Now, we are bright and shiny!
Now to the hard part - keeping Lucy from having running fits around the house and scratching the floors with her puppy paws. I think it might be time for Lucy-Lu to become a dog snob and get her little nails rounded frequently. That will be entertaining seeing as how she already believes she is a human. You think I am exaggerating? Look below for proof.

Ridiculous. Or maybe we are ridiculous for dressing our dog up for Halloween last October. Regardless, she acts like it is her God given right to be treated equally. If you don't believe us, ask Mama Jane - she has seen a Lucy tantrum before. You know your dog is spoiled to death when your own mother tells you she won't babysit your children one day if they act as rotten as your dog...

Speaking of a spoiled rotten dog...here is a good story. We have fed Lucy Pedigree dog food since she was a puppy. One day we ran out of food and Ryan ran into CVS to grab a bag and all they had was Beneful. Well, Lucy thought Paula Dean herself cooked her dinner. She loved it! So, we finished out the bag and then went back to the usual Pedigree. We put it in her bowl and what did Lucifer do? She spit it out on the floor and looked at us like we were crazy for putting that junk in her bowl. Believe me now??

Back to the house - we finally picked out some cabinet knobs and pulls. Everything is currently in gold and that just isn't really us....so we went on a search for some new hardware. Do you have any idea how many different knobs and cabinet pulls there are out there??? My goodness. Thousands. I think we finally found some that we like - here they are:

Thanks to ebay, 36 of these bad boys will arrive in our mailbox next week. Strike that off your honey-do-list Ryan - we've got a long way to go! More to come soon. Tomorrow we start painting the kitchen my favorite color. Here's a hint - Go Tigers!

For now its a glass of wine, my sweet husband, and our crazy pup.

Love and cheers!

We are homeowners!

Yes - we bought a house last Friday! We are so excited and I could not have asked for a better birthday present! (Good luck topping that one next year, Ryan! Ha!) The house in located in Duncan and we can't wait to get moved in and everything the way we want it. There will be many more blogs about house renovations, painting, yardwork, and the like. But for now, we are just excited to have a set of keys and to have the option of choosing paint colors.

You know you are a home owner when you go to Home Depot five times in one weekend. We picked out paint colors for the downstairs and bought a ton of paint. Exhibit A that we own a home:

Unbelievable how long it takes to pick out paint!! Thanks to good ol' Rick at The Home Depot, we have a color scheme and 12 gallons of paint. Yes. 12 gallons of paint! Thank goodness we didn't end up with the bad paint guy. Evidently he is legendary at Home Depot for being terrible. The people next to us looked miserable - so moral of the story, thank you Rick for being good at your job and not messing up our first home (well we hope so at least!).

More to come on the house and our adventures turning it into our home. We thought we would try out the blog thing to track our crazy, fast paced, blessed life. For now, it's time to get some sleep - my first day of class for my PhD program starts tomorrow!

Love and cheers!
